Before You Go
- Confirm the date and time on the organizer’s page the week of the event. Legislative calendars and weather can move a rally.
- Know the capitol rules. Carry, signage and security rules differ from state to state and building to building. Check the capitol police or legislature website before you travel.
- Make an appointment. Lobby days work best when you schedule time with your own state representative and senator in advance.
- Bring a short, clear message. Name the bill numbers that matter to you and how you want your legislator to vote.
- Dress for a long day outdoors, plan parking early, and stay with your group.
